Hi, I’m Kelly - founder of Sien Hair, a private sensory-safe salon in Melbourne’s Inner-North.
As both a neurodivergent parent to neurodivergent children, and a hairdresser with 25+ years of experience, I created Sensory Safe Salons™ and The Calm Cut™ Toolkit to help children feel safer, more prepared and more supported during haircut experiences.
Everything here has been shaped through lived experience, professional insight and real-world salon practice.

The Calm Cut™ is a Sensory-Safe, first haircut Toolkit - designed to help children and families approach haircuts with more confidence, predictability and ease.
Created whilst working directly with families in the Sien Hair salon, this downloadable and interactive toolkit combines lived experience, professional insight and practical visual supports to help make haircut experiences feel safer and less overwhelming.

The Calm Cut Toolkit was born inside Sien Hair - a private, inclusive salon created by Kelly, with one goal in mind: helping every client feel safe, understood, and genuinely comfortable in the salon environment.
After years of working closely with neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, Kelly saw just how overwhelming hair appointments could feel for many people and their families. The Calm Cut Toolkit was created from real-life experience, practical strategies, and countless calm, compassionate appointments at Sien Hair.
Today, Sien Hair continues to be a welcoming space where clients can experience sensory-safe hair appointments in practice - with flexible approaches, reduced overwhelm, and support tailored to individual needs.
